In my current images of myth and reality, on themes of sexuality and
spirituality, I appropriate images from the Old Masters and use notable quotes
and scripture from various religions to create my images. In so doing, I examine
and debate traditional thought that has demeaned women and condemned them for
bringing sin into the world--where fathers have condoned incest, but condemned
homosexuality, and where martyrs and heroes are assured a place in heaven when
they wage wars and kill innocent people in the name of their Gods.

In these images of Mary Magdalene and Jesus, I celebrate their love
story. According to new manuscripts found in 1945, Mary was an
influential figure, a woman of means, a prominent disciple, an apostle,
who along with Jesus preached his message of love and forgiveness.
